Magnetic rope testing (MRT) is based on the magnetic flux leakage (MFL) method that detects anomalies in normal flux patterns created by discontinuities in ferrous material, saturated by a magnetic field.
MRT is intended to detect local fault (LF) such as wire breaks, corrosion, pitting and loss metallic area (LMA) that occur in steel wire rope and can’t be detected by visual inspection.
